Welcome to The Albemarle County Rotary Club!

With a motto of “Service Above Self”, Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encouraging high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. We also look to have fun while doing this work for the community.

In person meetings take place at the Greencroft Club. Meetings are planned every two weeks, the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, starting at 12:15pm. ** Note: in July due to the July 4th holiday, the meeting will take place on the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month.

Please support the Club’s Rotary Memorial Pickleball Classic Fundraiser. Play pickleball and support worthwhile scholarships and youth development in Albemarle County.

Why Rotary ?

The Albemarle County Rotary Club is one of over 30,000 clubs worldwide.   Our Club is a diverse group of people from a variety of professions – nonprofits, business and education. Not everyone is an accountant.

All of our members are committed to giving back and doing good things for others. Each year, we award scholarships totaling between $15,000 – $20,000 to students continuing their education and to adults who need training to get a job. We have been involved in international projects to provide clean water in Africa, provided Shelter Boxes to areas affected by natural disasters, and supported Polio Plus in an effort to rid the world of polio.

We hold meetings twice a month on the first and third Thursday of the month. We host engaging presentations in which we learn about new developments in our community and the world. Join us at the Greencroft Club to meet an outstanding group of people.

For more information about the club, see our 2025 Albemarle County Rotary Brochure.

Last Thursday, the Albemarle County Rotary Club took a virtual trip to Winneba, Ghana through an engaging presentation by our own Val Palamountain.Earlier this year, Val and Cori Campbell joined Dave Norris on a cultural exchange visit to Winneba, Ghana—Charlottesville's sister city. Their presentation gave our members a firsthand look at the people, traditions, and connections that make this international partnership so meaningful. From Winneba's rich cultural heritage and vibrant music to its renowned pottery and the famous Aboakyer Deer Hunting Festival, we were reminded that Rotary is about building understanding and friendships that reach far beyond our local community.A special thank you to Val for sharing this memorable experience and highlighting the value of cultural exchange and international service.
